Testimonials & Kitchen Renovation Experiences
-
What is the Kitchen Discovery Room? It’s a curated showroom of real kitchen designs - paired with transparent pricing and layout details. Each display shows actual materials, appliances, and investment ranges based on completed or quote-ready projects.
-
Can I visit a physical kitchen showroom? We offer a unique virtual kitchen showroom experience. Browse a variety of kitchen brands and styles from home, and if something catches your eye, request a quote to connect with a nearby dealer.
-
What do I need to provide to get a kitchen cost estimate? To provide an accurate estimate, we’ll need your address to find the nearest dealer. We’ll also ask for your architectural plans or measurements and send you a kitchen design questionnaire. Your completed plans and questionnaire will be shared with the dealer to ensure we understand your needs and start your design journey on the right foot.
-
Can I compare different layouts or price points?Yes. You can filter kitchens by shape, style, brand, and investment level. Whether you’re exploring galley kitchens, U-shapes, or premium finishes, you’ll see what that look really costs.
-
What makes this different from a typical showroom? We’re not a cabinet retailer, and we don’t promote just one brand. This is an independent, design-focused space you can explore from home, without pressure or salespeople. You’ll gain real insight into what thoughtfully designed kitchens actually cost, how they're built, and what it could take to bring one into your own home. When you're ready, you can request a personalized quote based on your space and needs.
-
Are these real kitchens or just renderings? All kitchens featured are real designs based on actual project quotes or installations. Some are photographed, others are shown as renderings - but every layout, material, and price reflects a real kitchen that has been or can be built. We don’t use generic inspiration images or placeholder pricing. What you see is grounded in real materials, layouts, and investment levels.
-
What if I like a kitchen but need to adjust the layout? That’s exactly what the quote form is for. You can submit your layout and request a personalized estimate based on the kitchen you love, adapted to your space.
-
What do I get if I submit the quote form? You’ll receive a personalized estimate based on your layout, the kitchen style you selected, and your specific project needs - all provided by the trusted dealer who represents that brand.
-
Who will contact me? Will it be a salesperson? You’ll only hear from a kitchen expert affiliated with the display brand you selected - not a sales rep from a random showroom. There’s no sales pressure or follow-up unless you choose to proceed.
-
How long will it take to get my estimate?Once we receive your request, we’ll connect you with the kitchen dealer who represents the design you selected. They’ll typically follow up by email (or occasionally schedule a quick call) to gather any additional details they need. Estimates are usually prepared within 5–7 business days once all the necessary information is received. Timing and communication style may vary slightly by dealer. If you haven’t heard from them within 2–3 business days, feel free to reach out - we’re happy to follow up on your behalf.
-
Can I speak to someone before committing to anything?Yes. Once your estimate is ready, the kitchen expert can walk you through the details and answer any questions. There’s no pressure - you decide how and when to move forward. If you'd like, you can also visit their showroom to see the products in person and experience the quality for yourself.
-
What if I don't have architectural plans for my kitchen? No worries! We provide a self-measure guide to help you take the initial measurements. If you decide to proceed with a kitchen dealer, they’ll confirm the dimensions before starting any production.
-
Is this the same as hiring a kitchen designer? Not quite. This showroom helps you get real pricing clarity on curated kitchen displays. If you need full-service layout planning or design guidance, we offer Kitchen Design Support as a separate service.
-
We're struggling with our kitchen design. Can you help?Absolutely! That’s exactly what we’re here for. Whether you’re unsure about layout, storage, appliance placement, or just how to bring everything together, we offer independent, expert guidance tailored to your space and your goals. We don’t sell cabinets, so our support is focused purely on helping you make smart decisions, avoid costly mistakes, and move forward with clarity. You can start with a consultation or explore full-service design support depending on what you need.
-
How much does your kitchen design service cost? Our services are structured to meet different levels of support: Virtual layout packages start at $749 — perfect for remote support and early-stage planning. In-person design consultations in NYC start at $500 — this includes a one-hour site visit with measurements, site inspection, and concept direction. Full-service design and project support is quoted based on scope, location, and timeline. Most projects begin with a consultation, which is applied toward your full-service fee if you proceed. Typical full-service projects span 100–125 hours from initial concept through design, procurement, and project oversight — including coordination with contractors and trades. You can explore our virtual options in the online store, or reach out to discuss full-service support.
-
Can you help me with a small kitchen design project?Yes. Whether your kitchen is large or small, our focus is on creating spaces that work beautifully for your lifestyle, layout, and daily routines. We offer virtual layout packages that are ideal for smaller kitchens and early-stage planning. For New York–based clients, we also offer in-person consultations and full-service support tailored to the size and scope of your project. No matter the square footage, good design makes all the difference.
-
What is your design process like? Our full-service kitchen design process is comprehensive, hands-on, and tailored to your unique needs. It begins with a detailed needs assessment to understand your space, priorities, constraints, and renovation goals. In-Depth Concept & Vision We begin with a comprehensive on-site consultation to understand your space, lifestyle, and renovation goals. This sets a confident foundation — crafted design, not guesswork. Thoughtful Layout & Design Development Using principles of functionality, aesthetics, and real-world ergonomics, we refine your layout until it beautifully supports how you live and use your kitchen. Finishes, Materials & Specification With your feedback, we finalize every detail — cabinetry, appliances, hardware, surfaces, and lighting — to align with your vision, priorities, and investment level. Vendor Coordination & Construction Support We assist with supplier selection, quoting, and contractor coordination to ensure your approved design is feasible, accurate, and respected during execution. Installation Oversight & Final Walk-Through We remain involved through key milestones and conduct a final walk-through to ensure everything reflects the design intent — no shortcuts, no surprises. Every step is grounded in strategy and care — so you avoid missteps, stay in control, and bring your kitchen to life with confidence.
-
How do you fit into an existing team of architect, general contractor, or interior designer? In many projects, especially new builds, I’m brought in toward the end of the planning phase, once the broader team is already in place. I’m used to stepping into established dynamics and contributing without disrupting them. Before founding Kitchen Design NYC, I spent years designing kitchens within high-end showrooms, where I was often the last professional added to the team. That experience taught me how to collaborate seamlessly with architects, interior designers, lighting designers, and contractors, while still advocating for what the kitchen truly needs. My role is focused and complementary: I refine the kitchen layout, optimize functionality, specify technical details, and guide the execution so nothing is overlooked during installation. I make sure the kitchen lives up to the quality of the overall project - and that it works beautifully in real life.
-
How is your role different from an architect or interior designer?Architects and interior designers manage the overall vision of a project. My role is focused specifically on the kitchen - one of the most complex, high-investment spaces in the home. Where others take a broad view, I go deep. I refine kitchen layouts for real-life use, coordinate appliances, ensure technical accuracy, and guide execution so the final result matches the intent. I also stay involved through construction, helping prevent costly mistakes during installation. Unlike showroom designers, I don’t represent a brand or sell products. My guidance is independent and tailored entirely to your space, your goals, and your team. If your kitchen matters, you want someone whose entire process is built around getting that space right.
-
What is the first step in getting started with your kitchen design service? We start with a free 30-minute intro call to learn more about your project, timeline, and goals — and to see if we’re the right fit. From there, we book a 1-hour on-site consultation (for NYC, Hamptons, or Greenwich clients), where we take measurements, inspect the space, and discuss your vision in more detail. This helps us define the scope and provide a tailored quote for full-service design and support.
-
Do you have a portfolio I can review?Yes. We’ve put together a curated digital presentation featuring a range of kitchen projects - including work completed at Kitchen Design NYC as well as projects executed in previous roles. It offers a clear sense of our design approach, attention to detail, and the variety of spaces we’ve worked with.
-
Do you work with specific kitchen appliance brands or suppliers? We’re fully independent. That means we’re not tied to any single brand or showroom - and we don’t push products. Instead, we work with a vetted network of trusted partners, which allows us to recommend the right mix of appliances and materials based on your layout, needs, and design goals. You get flexible, unbiased guidance - and solutions tailored to your space. Our focus is always on what works best for you.
-
Do you offer kitchen design services for customers outside New York?Yes, we offer virtual kitchen design packages that support clients across the U.S. These are tailored to help you create a functional layout that fits your space, lifestyle, and project goals — wherever you're located. You can explore available packages in our online store. In-person, full-service design is currently available in New York City, the Hamptons, and Greenwich. For other areas, reach out and we’ll let you know what’s possible. Talk to us:
